Site details
Site description: One of the largest forest tracts in Penza region.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Bird data was only collected from a few days of surveying, so is incomplete. Information from local hunters and literature shows that Aquila clanga has been present for many years.More research is needed.
Delineation rationale: 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 52°28'36'N 43°48'14'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 23520 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
