Site details


Site description: Gunung Tanah Putih is hilly area. There is one village close to the area called Domato. Most of people of Domato work as farmer. The main comodity from this area are coconut, cacao, and clove.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas) KBA identified by the 2014 CEPF Wallacea Ecosystem Profile process. Taxonomy and threat status follow the 2013 IUCN Red List.
Additional biodiversity: This area supports 33 restricted-range bird species. It is very difficult to find Chattering Lory Lorius garrulus in this area, because of intensive catching. During a one day survey by BirdLife International , only 4-10 birds observed (BirdLife International 2001).
Delineation rationale: 2015-06-10 (BL Secretariat): site area changed from 1500 ha to 10731 ha, following 2014 CEPF Ecosystem Profile.
