Site details
Site description: The name of this area is comes from the name of a close by village that only around 500 m away. Most of the people in this village work as farmer. The main comodity are coconut, cacao, clove and sago.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas) KBA identified by the 2014 CEPF Wallacea Ecosystem Profile process. Taxonomy and threat status follow the 2013 IUCN Red List.
Additional biodiversity: Only few records of Drummer Rail recently, and status of this species is still undecided because the information is limited(BirdLife International 2001). This area considered as important site for the Drummer Rail (Bagali 1996).Population of Chattering Lory Lorius garrulus in this area is decreasing because of logging and bird catching for trade (BirdLife International 2001).
Delineation rationale: 2015-06-10 (BL Secretariat): site area changed from 10 ha to 1384 ha, following 2014 CEPF Ecosystem Profile.
