Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: The area has a high concentration of breeding eagles, with one of the largest local populations of Aquila heliaca in Russia present. Non-bird biodiversity: There is a high diversity of rodents, with half of the species known from Ul'yanovsk region present.Large numbers of marmots can be found in the steppe and agricultural land.
