Site details


Site description: A reservoir on the River Tajo with steep banks and occasional cliffs. The surrounding vegetation comprises Mediterranean scrub, Quercus woodland, dehesas, and some olive-groves. The main human activities are livestock-farming and hunting.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: This is an important area for cliff-nesting species, particularly raptors and storks, and steppic species.
