Site details


Site description: A reservoir with a strongly fluctuating water-level. There is marsh vegetation along some of the banks and the reservoir is surrounded by cereal fields.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: An important wintering site for wildfowl. The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where more than 20,000 cranes regularly pass in spring.
