Site details
Site description: The Roïalovické rybníky ponds IBA is composed of an extensive system of ponds of small and medium size situated in the forested land on the border of the Nymburk and Jièín districts. The dominant tree of the forests is oak. The area is important mainly for birds nesting in the reedbeds. It is also an important migration stopover of waterbirds and raptors.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
