Site details


Site description: This IBA consists of about 50 ponds of various size situated in an agricultural landscape of the Budìjovice plateau. It is a breeding site and migration stopover for significant numbers of many waterbird species. Some of the species are concentrated in breeding colonies at some of the ponds and use other ponds and water bodies even outside the IBA as feeding grounds.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
