Site details

Site description: A fragment of a large, predominantly dry Scot's Pine forest growing on sandy soils. It includes a significant number of small old-growth forest stands. There are several patches of open habitats with heath or bare sandy soil. New IBA, listed for the first time under the IBA C criteria. Almost fully protected: there is a 99.1% overlap with the newly designated Garkalne forests restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA.
