Site description: A IBA é constituída por uma zona de escoada lávica com mato macaronésico que, junto ao mar, termina numa falésia rochosa.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: Site of particular importance for the Little Shearwater.

Threats


Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: Feral terrestrial mammals (dogs, cats, rats and weasels) affect most of the seabirds, especially those who nest in holes and burrows. Invasive plant species like the cane reduces the available nesting habitat for seabirds.
