Site description: A part of the Danube delta, near Vilkovo village.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The total number of breeding waterbirds is 18,000 pairs, while more than 100,000 individuals stage here on migration.
