Site description: A group of lakes near the Danube delta.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The total number of breeding waterbirds is nearly 2,500 pairs, and over 25,000 individuals stage here on passage, peaking during August-November.
