Site description: A lower montane area with broadleaved forests (Quercus and Fagus) and heathland.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The site is a migratory bottleneck, where more than 3,000 cranes and 3,000 raptors regularly pass (including Pernis apivorus 2,500; Milvus milvus 3,500; Grus grus 15,000).
