Site details


Site description: Lakes, marshes, and wet meadows, surrounded by woodland, hedges and cultivated land, and plains. Human activities include agriculture, stock-raising, fishing and hunting.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: This wetland area is important for breeding waterbirds and passage storks, raptors and cranes. The site is a migratory bottleneck, where more than 3,000 Grus grus regularly pass.
