Site details


Site description: This site is located northwest of Antalya, in the Taurus mountains in the Korkuteli district of Turkey. The forests and variety of plants are typical examples of the Mediterranean.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs. The Anatolia Lycian salamander (Lyciasalamandra antalyana) triggers A1a, while an additional eight species of birds, four plants, two invertebrates, and one mammal meet legacy KBA criteria and are in need of reassessment against the Global Standard.
