Site details


Site description: This coastal strip site, designated as a Special Protection Area for its significance for wintering and migrant Greater Sand Plovers (Charadrius leschenaultii) is much impacted by development, but remains of importance both for the plover and for migrant herons and waders. It is also among the few sites away from Kleides Islands to regularly host Audouin’s Gull (Larus audouinii).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
