Site description: A group of freshwater lochs and lochans characterized by moderate nutrient levels. Sedge-beds are locally extensive.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Delineation rationale: First identified in 1992; removed catchment and resolved overlap with Central Highland Hills and Glens in 2007. 2000 area, 11270ha. SPA boundary used from JNCC; digitised at 1:10,000 scale.
