Site description: An island consisting of mountainous terrain and contrasting rock types, which supports a variety of habitat-types. The IBA is impotant for breeding seabirds.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Delineation rationale: First identified in 1989 as Rhum; renamed in 2000; no significant boundary changes since 1989. SPA boundary used from JNCC; digitised at 1:10,000 scale.
