Site details

Site description: A rocky shoreline indented with many small bays of rocks, sand and shingle, running along the north-west coast and northern part of the east coast of Guernsey. These coastal habitats are used by wintering waders and grebes, as well as breeding terns and gulls.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Delineation rationale: First identified in 1992; no significant boundary changes since. Area in 2000 of 550ha was incorrect. Digitised onto 1:25,000.
