Site details
Site description: Located in Xunke County. Dazhanhe is the largest protected area of forest swamp in China. It lies on the northern slopes of the Da Hinggan Ling mountains and on the upper reaches of the Dazhan He river. About 110,000 ha of the nature reserve is forested (mainly mixed broadleaf-coniferous forest).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: About 570 species of plants have been recorded, including 13 nationally protected species, and about 250 species of wild animals.
