Site details

Site description: A mountain chain in the central-southern Alps. One of the largest areas of wilderness in the Alps, with almost no human settlement. The alpine habitats are relatively intact and undisturbed by man, ranging from coniferous woodlands (Picea, Larix, Pinus) to grasslands, rocky areas, and many small lakes. Cattle-rearing and forestry are important human activities.
