Site details


Site description: Karađorđevo is situated in southwestern Bačka District in Vojvodina Province (N Serbia). IBA in completely flat and involve two spatially distinct parts: Bukinski rit and Vranjak/Guvnište forests. The most important natural goods of this area are the marshy forests of autochthonous oaks, willows and poplars interspaced with ponds, canals and swamps. It has characteristics floodplain vegetation and plant species. There is no settlements inside of IBA. Bačka Palanka and Bač municipalities share administrative obligations.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
