Site details


Site description: Lowland hay-meadows that are flooded in winter, along a small stream with natural eutrophic lakes. The site was included within a larger IBA (formerly LU002) in the previous international IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: This is the most important site for Crex crex in Luxembourg. Milvus migrans, Alcedo atthis and Lanius collurio, listed on Annex I of the Bird Directive, also breed.
