Site details


Site description: A coastal site including shallow fjord areas, saltmarshes, reedbeds, small freshwater lakes and agricultural land. The Ulvedybet area is a brackish lake that has been dammed-off from the Limfjord.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The site holds more than 20,000 waterfowl and is particularly important for wintering Cygnus cygnus. Several species listed on Annex I of the Birds Directive breed at the site including Platalea leucorodia, Circus aeruginosus, Recurvirostra avosetta, Philomachus pugnax, Sterna sandvicensis, S. hirundo, S. paradisaea and S. albifrons.
