Site description: This new IBA is a small forest site in the Troodos range that is of importance for Woodlark (Lullula arborea) and Cyprus Coal Tit (Parus ater cypriotes) in particular, but also holds good numbers of Masked Shrike (Lanius nubicus), the two endemics (Oenanthe cypriaca) and (Sylvia melanothorax) and the two buntings, Cretzschmar’s Bunting (Emberiza caesia) and Black-headed Bunting (Emberiza melanocephala).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
