Site details
Site description: This site is part of the much larger Vienna forest. It is dominated by Quercus, Carpinus, Fagus, Fraxinus and Acer. Human activities include tourism and recreation, forestry and hunting.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: The area contains important populations of species found in old broadleaved forests.

Threats
Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: The main threat to the forest is from high densities of wild boar Sus scrofa, fallow deer Dama dama, red deer Cervus elaphus and mouflon Ovis musimon which prevent forest and understorey regeneration. Parts of the forest are also subject to intensive forest management.
