Site details
Site description: An area of raised bog, partly forested with native broadleaved and conifer forest. Outside the protected core area are wet hay-meadows and pastures, together with two lakes, one of which is used for recreation.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: An important site for species breeding in raised bog and humid grassland such as Numenius arquata (13-14 pairs) and Vanellus vanellus (35-40 pairs).

Threats
Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: Land drainage is small-scale and limited to the margins of the site. An increasing number of farmers are taking up payments for late mowing. Some disturbance occurs as a result of recreational activities.
