Site details


Site description: This area contains nine sites with wet meadows adjacent to five lakes. The size of individual sites ranges from 25-270 ha. Originally situated in the inundation zone of the lakes, most of the meadows have been affected by drainage in the past. The area is used for forestry, agriculture and recreation.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: A good area for breeding species in humid grassland, particularly Vanellus vanellus (70-81 pairs), Numenius arquata (13-19 pairs) and Gallinago gallinago (20-25) pairs.
