Site description: A 25-km long section of the embanked River Weser. The valley is dominated by meadows, gravel-pits and arable land.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: The area is also nationally important as an inland wintering site for Bucephala clangula.

Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: Disturbance to birds from work on the river course, hunting, and military training are the most important threats to the IBA. There are plans to open up the Weser meadow for recreational use.
