Site details


Site description: A lake with an area of fen and riverine forest. The lake and its surrounds are intensively used for tourism from May to October, as a fishery all year-round, and also for hunting, forestry and agriculture.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The site holds 20,000 or more waterbirds in winter on a regular basis.
