Site details
Site description: An area of fen-dominated flood-plain interspersed with reedbed (Phragmites) and Salix/Betula scrub. Human activities include reed-cutting (`Other' land-use), boating and hunting (not of birds).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Important as a stop-over site for passage wildfowl as well as for breeding species of wet meadows. Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (2-4 pairs).
