Site details
Site description: Part of Lake Constance with reedbeds (Phragmites) and extensive areas of mud. Inland are tracts of riverine forest (mainly Salix), dry forest (Pinus and Fagus), ravine and hill-slope mixed forest, lightly improved hay-meadows, calcareous dry grassland, orchards, springs and cliffs.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: This is an important stop-over site for passage species of wildfowl.
