Site details
Site description: The site is situated south and east of the town of Halden, in south-eastern Norway. Coniferous forest covers most of the area, and lakes and minor bogs are abundant. Only eight of the lakes are larger than 2 km2, with Lake Femsjø being the largest (11 km2). Most of the lakes are nutrient-poor.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.

Threats
Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: The `Other' threat is acid rain. The Nature Reserve lies adjacent to Tresticklan National Park in Sweden, which encloses Lake Søndre Boksjø.
