Site details


Site description: Dorudsan Dam maintains a large storage reservoir in a broad valley on the Kur river, at c.1,800 m in the southern Zagros Mountains c.70 km north-north-west north of Shiraz. No information is available on the habitats, etc.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.

Delineation rationale: 2010-02-03 (BL Secretariat): site area was not defined in the original IBA publication/inventory; here, it has been derived by GIS from the draft polygon.
