Site details

Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: One of the richest areas for biodiversity on Socotra.
Delineation rationale: 2018-07 (BL Secretariat): the 1994 IBA Jabal Jaaf (SitRecID 8376; 300 ha) has been merged into the much larger 1994 IBA Haggeher (SitRecID 8380; 5800 ha, thus expanding the site to 8000 ha). 2008-12-11 (BL Secretariat): polygon is based on an amalgam of the Montane Mosaic polygon and the first-draft SSSI polygon (provided by RBGE to BirdLife in 2000), clipped where necessary by surrounding IBA polygons.
