Site details

Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: Also an important breeding area for Cream-coloured Courser.
Delineation rationale: 2009-01-05 (BL Secretariat): polygon is defined as the whole southern coastal plain, from sea-level (extending 100 m offshore) up to the 100-m contour (this matches the 'Croton shrubland' polygon provided by RBGE to BirdLife in 2001); the 1994 coordinates lie near the edge of the polygon, so have been shifted to its centre.
