Site details
Site description: This site consists of an isolated mountain system that is part of the Sierra Madre del Sur in the state of Oaxaca. It has an altitude range of between 200 and 3,500 meters above sea level with pink-oak forest. . Threats deforestation, agriculture, and livestock.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site contains the entire known population of the amphibian Thorius pinicola and the plant Stenocereus chacalapensis. Eleutherodactylus syristes is now Least Concern and unlikely to trigger any KBA criteria at this site. Nineteen bird species triggers KBA legacy criteria and are in need of reassessment.
