Site description: The KBA Bosque seco entre Bagua y Bagua Grande has 1445.37 sq km and it's located in Peru, Department of Amazonas, provinces of Utcubamba and Bagua. The altitudinal range of this KBA is 500 to 2600 masl. The main climate types in this KBA are: (1) temperate with abundant moisture all the stations of the year, (2) warm and semi-dry with abundant moisture all the stations of the year, (3) temperate and rainy with abundant moisture all stations of the year. In the former, the maximum temperature ranges between 21°C and 25°C, the minimum temperature, between 7°C and 11°C, and the annual precipitation between 700 mm and 2000 mm. In the second, the maximum temperature ranges between 29°C and 33°C, the minimum temperature, between 19°C and 23°C and the annual precipitation between 900 mm and 1200 mm. In the third, the maximum temperature ranges between 25°C and 29°C; the minimum temperature, between 11°C and 17°C, and the annual precipitation between 1200 mm and 3000 mm. This KBA includes the following ecosystems: Vegetación Secundaria, Bosque basimontano de Yunga and Bosque estacionalmente seco interandino.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: The KBA Bosque seco entre Bagua y Bagua Grande qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for A1, B1 and B2 criteria described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBA. The KBA Bosque seco entre Bagua y Bagua Grande harbors four range restricted lizard species (Polychrus peruvianus, Gonatodes atricucullaris, Ameiva nodam and Stenocercus huancabambae) and eight range restricted bird species (Incaspiza watkinsi, Thamnophilus shumbae, Synallaxis chinchipensis, Thlypopsis inornata, Turdus maranonicus, Hemitriccus cinnamomeipectus, Melanopareia maranonica and Patagioenas oenops).
Additional biodiversity: Hyloxalus insulatus, Browningia altissima, Borzicactus tenuiserpens, Pereskia horrida, Ara militaris, Lathrotriccus griseipectus, Patagioenas oenops, Picummnus steindachneri, Thamnophilus shumbae, Incaspiza watkinsi, Conopias cinchoneti, Thamnophilus tenuepunctatus, Melanopareia maranonica, Synallaxis chinchipensis, Hemitriccus cinnamomeopectus, Turdus maranonicus, Thlypopsis inornata the range restricted and Thaumasius taczanowskii, Pardirallus sanguinolentus, Hoploxypterus cayanus, Charadrius collaris, Phaetusa simplex, Tigrisoma fasciatum, Butorides striata, Ardea cocoi, Plegadis ridwayi, Touit huetii, Columbina buckleyi, Nyctidromus anthonyi, Nyctidromus anthonyi, Forpus coelestis, Thamnophilus bernardi, Zimmerius viridiflavus, Myiarchus phaeocephalus, Polioptila maior, Arremon abeillei, Sporophila simplex, Chloephaga melanoptera, Sarkidiornis sylvicola.

Delineation rationale: The KBA Bosque seco entre Bagua y Bagua Grande was delineated by taking into account the political limits between Cajamarca and Amazonas department, to the east it extends across the districts of Bagua Grande, Copallin and Cajaruro. The delineation excludes the city of Bagua and La Peca. The delineation also take into account IUCN range and suitable habitats for reptiles species such as the lizards Stenocercus huancabambae, Gonatodes atricucullaris, Ameiva nodam and Polychrus peruvianus.
