Site description: The KBA Reserva Nacional San Fernando covers 1548.34 sq km and it's located in Perú, in the Department of Ica, in the Province of Nazca and Ica. The main weather is temperate, arid with moisture deficiency at all stations of the year. The average maximum temperature ranges from 19°C to 31°C; while the average minimum temperature is from 3°C to 21°C. The annual precipitation varies between 0 mm and 5 mm. It includes the following ecosystems: Coastal desert and Coastal hill (Loma costera).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for A1a and B2 criteria described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBA. This KBA harbors one Vulnerable lizard species Ctenoblepharys adspersa, the Vulnerable Spheniscus humboldti, and the range restricted bird species Sternula lorata and Xenospingus concolor.
