Site details
Site description: A tall mountain with densely forested valleys. The main human activities include forestry, livestock-farming and winter sports.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: This is an important area for resident raptors, forest species and species associated with open montane habitats. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aquila heliaca, Falco naumanni (non-breeding).

Threats
Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: Threats include the construction of a ski centre and its associated infrastructure and more widespread tourism-based development. A dam is planned for the Papadia river. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
