Site details

Site description: A small area of dunes, saltmarshes and mudflats between Haringvliet (024) and the Voordelta (020). This site, together with sites 020 and 022, formed part of a single, larger site (former site NL046) in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: An important feeding and roosting site for Platalea leucorodia, particularly those from the Voornes Duin colony (022).
Delineation rationale: 9 March 2017: name and area edited. Now equal to the designated Special Protection Area (Birds Directive).
