Site details


Site description: Area located on the boundaries of two administrativ regions - Ivanovo regoin and Vladimir region. Due to that fact this floodplain and forested place are still maintaned in good conditions - very close to native one. Floodplain of the Klyazma river are very important as staging area for migrating waterfowl in spring. Forests and meadows are also very important breeding area for many rare birdas.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Delineation rationale: 2009-08-17: IBA area changed from 21,000 ha to 21,500 ha (by BL Secretariat, following RBCU spreadsheet of changes that need making). 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 56°29'29'N 41°35'47'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 21550 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
