Site details


Site description: Valley of Zhidra river from village Krichiny to the mouth of the river. Includes meadows, swamps, meandrs, agricultural lands and adjoning forests.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: 6000-15000 ind of Anser albifons&A.fabalis are gathered here during spring migration, and up to 10000 ducks (Anatidae&Aythinae)
Delineation rationale: 2014-08-12 (BL Secretariat): centroid coords adjusted to 54°8'7'N 35°59'30'E and site area changed to (or confirmed as) 17830 ha (rounded), on basis of refined polygon downloaded from Spatial Database on Important Bird Areas of Russia 2014 (© Russian Bird Conservation Union, © Transparent World).
