Site description: The KBA Alto Valle Santa Eulalia-Milloc covers an area of 304.27 sq km and it's located within the province of Huarochiri in the department of Lima and the province of Yauli in the department of Junín (a little portion). The climates in the KBA are: Rainy with dry autumn and winter, Cold; Rainy with abundant humidity all seasons, Semi-frigid and Semi-dry with dry winter, Cold. The altitude range of the KBA is 3600 - 4200 masl. This KBA presents the following ecosystems: Agricultural zone, High Andean relict forest, Lake and lagoon, Andean scrubland, Puna humid grassland and Periglacial and glacial zone. The Santa Eulalia River, which is located in the central-eastern part of the department of Lima, is a tributary of the Rimac River. In the upper part of the valley, it is connected to the Milloc valley. The predominant habitats are: Polylepis-Gynoxis forests (in the upper part), montane scrub and montane forest. The Polylepis forest patches are located 13 km west of the town of Milloc. This area is a highly valued site for ecotourism.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: The KBA Alto Valle Santa Eulalia-Milloc qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for A1 and B1 criteria described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs. This KBA harbors the critically endangered Cinclodes palliatus and the range restricted Polylepis pilosissima.

Manageability of the site: This site can be managed by the Regional Government of Lima and the National Service for Natural Areas Protected by the State - SERNANP, jointly. The National Coordination Group of KBAs has a conservation promotion and monitoring committee, which is composed of various governmental and civil society institutions that will work to promote conservation actions in the KBA.

Delineation rationale: It was delimited to include many lagoons and boundaries were proposed to include them. To the northwest we can observe three lagoons: Azul, Pit, Uysho; to the northeast we find Highway 116 and Lachis Lagoon; continuing to the east we find 3 lagoons: Chichis, Pucro and Canchis, followed by the Caridad Mine and the Huachua lagoon; and to the south we find the Yayancure lagoon, the Carhuac hydroelectric plant, highway 116 and the city of Huanza. To the southwest is the proposed private conservation area of Japani Forest.
