Site description: The KBA Bosques Secos de Salitral - Huarmaca - Olmos covers 1199.019 sq km and it's located within the provinces of Huancabamba and Morropón in the department of Piura, and the province of Lambayeque in the department of Lambayeque. The predominant habitat is dry forest and the altitude range is 150 - 1200 masl. The climates in the KBA are: 1) rainy with dry winter - temperate; 2)semi-dry with dry winter - temperate; 3)semiarid with dry winter and spring - warm; 4) arid with moisture deficiency in all seasons - warm and 5) arid with moisture deficiency in all seasons of the year - temperate. The KBA Bosques Secos de Salitral - Huarmaca - Olmos encompasses several ecosystems, such as: Agricultural zone, Seasonally dry hill and mountain forest, Seasonally dry lowland forest, Seasonally dry riparian forest, Andean scrubland, River and Urban zone. This is an extensive site composed of several ravines and their respective valleys (Del Jaguay Grande, Chacra de Paulino, Vacas, San Isidro, Olla Serrana, La Totora, Mugo Mugo, Pavas, Frejolillo, Tocto, La Pachinga, Paitorán, Yahara, Cusques, Cachaco, Rosas, Caballito, Algodonal, Oberito, Yumpe, Chamelico, Granada, Peña Blanca and Pomapara).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: The KBA Bosques Secos de Salitral - Huarmaca - Olmos qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for the A1a and B2 criteria described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBA. This KBA harbors at least six range-restricted birds and one endangered bird (Penelope albipennis).

Delineation rationale: To the northwest it delimits with the Río Seco, to the east it follows the margin of the Río Piura to the south with the departmental limit between Piura and Lambayeque. In the southwest it flows through the Tocto and Cascajal rivers.
