Site details


Site description: Located in the southern part of Yichun City, on the southern slopes of the Xiao Hinggan Ling mountains. The IBA used to be a forest farm and was designated as an experimental forest farm of North-east Forestry University in 1958. It includes 4,100 ha of Pinus koraiensis forest, and riverine vegetation provides suitable tree-holes for nesting Mergus squamatus and Aix galericulata.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Supports nine species of nationally protected animals and six species of nationally protected plants.
