Site details


Site description: Jingpo Hu is located in the western part of the Laoye Ling mountains. The nature reserve was established to protect the forest, natural scenery and water sources. The lake is 45 km in length, and has national monuments from the Tang Dynasty, and it attracts more than 800,000 tourists every summer.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera tigris altaia, Cervus nippon, Naemorhedus goral, Lutra lutra, Martes zibellina and Panthera pardus. Nationally protected plants include Panax ginseng, Fraxinus mandshurica, Juglans mandshurica, Phellodendron chinense and Acanthopanax senticosus.
