Site details


Site description: The Yalu River flows westwards at its estuary. The main habitats in the IBA are reedbeds and tidal flats, with some areas of agricultural land. Many waterbirds, especially shorebirds, occur on migration, when more than 70,000 birds can be counted in one day during the peak.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
