Site details


Site description: Located in the northern part of Leibo County. The IBA is on the eastern slope of Huangmaogeng in the Liangshan mountains, north of the Jinsha Jiang river (i.e. the upper reaches of the Yangtze River).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Important site also to Giant Panda, Lesser panda, Leopard, Musk Deer and Asiatic Black Bear.
Delineation rationale: Polygon provided by Conservation International (CI). Accuracy difficult to determine.
