Site details

Site description: Located in the Yan Shan mountains in northern Beijing. Over 20,000 ducks pass through this area on spring and autumn migration.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Vulpes vulpes, Mustela sibirica and Naemorhedus goral.
Delineation rationale: Boundary digitized by Tris Allinson at Birdlife International using Google Earth. Accuracy difficult to determine.
